Charles Allen

Mr. Charles Lee Allen of 501 Cardinal St, Pooler, Georgia passed away on Sunday November, 17 2024 at St. Joseph Candler Hospital, Savannah, Georgia. Charles Lee Allen was born and raised in Milledgeville Georgia to the parents of Deacon Robert Lee Allen Sr and Fannie Mae Allen. In Charles’s journey through life he met and married his beloved wife of 35 years Phyllis Jean Allen. Amongst their union Phyllis brought in two children. They were never referred to as his step children because they were never treated as such. In his eyes they were his children. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, vacationing and getting his pedicures. Charles attended the school system of Baldwin County. He had a strong work ethic that was passed down to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was retired from Baldwin corrections where he worked 26 years. He was also a proud veteran where he served 7 years in the army and the remaining 22 in Army National Guard for a total of 29 years. He deployed 3 times for the Iraqi freedom, war of Afghanistan and border patrol. Charles Allen is preceded in death by his father Deacon Robert Allen Sr, his brothers Deacon Robert Allen Jr and Deacon Sylvester Allen and brother in laws Ulysses Reaves and George Heitman. Charles Allen leaves in his cherished memory his loving wife Phyllis Jean Allen of 35 years, 2 children Amy Martin (Ernie), Jayson Oberley (Candice), and a distant daughter Samantha Birman. 3 Grandchildren Amanda Allen aka Mandy, Jayson Oberley Jr aka Jay jay(Lala) Jasmine (Carson) Klaas and a special granddaughter Chelsea Butler. 4 Great Grandsons Brayzdin-Elijah Kahale-Oberley-Bustamante, Bradlee Keoki Allen, Kayde Lanakila Klaas, and Branzdyn-Charles Kahale-Oberley-Bustamante. His mother Fannie Mae Allen. 3 sisters Catherine (Thomas) Stewart, Wytina (Bruce) Jackson and Maxine Reaves. 1 brother Kelly Allen; sister in laws, Geraldine Allen and Brenda Allen Carol Shouse (Lew) Ginny Brown (Bruce) Vivian Owens (Roy) Patricia Heitman aunts Lucille Solomon Emma Wilson and Viola Willis Uncles Melvin Veal Timmothy (Lucille) Veal Freddie (Shirley) Veal Sr, brother in law, Craig(Yevonne) Cearns; and a host of nieces and nephews cousins and extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers you may contribute donations in Charles’s name to the cancer foundation. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 12 PM in Victory Baptist Church with burial to follow at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-12 PM at Victory Baptist Church. The family will gather at the residence 288 County Line Church Road, SW; Milledgeville, GA 31061 from 12-8PM.
