Edith Keith

With deep love and gratitude, we remember Edith O. Keith, a devoted wife, mother, sister, teacher, and shining light of Christ’s love. Edith poured that love into generations of children-her own three daughters, six grandchildren, and the hundreds of elementary children over 32 years of teaching. Edith kept photos of them all in an album labeled “All My Children.” Even in retirement, she found a heart for the local children of Aquacayo, El Salvador. What started as a vacation turned into the CALA Foundation, a coordinated non-profit to directly sponsor the ongoing education of impoverished children. Where others failed, Edith found a way. Her steadfast faith was not one of words but of action. Edith was the embodiment of “praying with her feet” and showing God’s divine mercy through the effort and help of others. As an identical twin, Edith was even spiritually Debra’s other half. Through raising children together and surviving the early childhood antics of her lively brothers, Craig and Mark, she and Debra taught us all how to stick together through life’s joy and sorrow-and most importantly, how to lean on faith and trust in the promise of heaven. She provided loving care to her parents, Irene and Hal, through their transition of life. Edith never wavered in reminding us all that she knew where Debra was after her passing, and indeed, we know where now they celebrate together. As a wife and mother, Edith was truly the heart of her home. Married for 46 years to her soulmate, Darrell, her legacy of love, care, and commitment echoes through all who witnessed their great love. Together they built homes, built businesses, and built a family that brought her children and grandchildren home from three states in all phases of life. There was no life event or inconvenience that would keep her from regular adventures with her grandchildren. Edith’s voice was one of the first her grandbabies heard after birth, and the most steadfast voice of joy at every holiday and milestone. She leaves behind her husband, Darrell Keith; daughters, Hallie Goettsch (Zach) of Jessup, Rebecca Keith (Arian) of Seattle, WA, Hannah Corry (Marshall) of Chattanooga, TN; brothers, Craig Olive of Sarasota, FL, Mark Olive (Dawn) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Rowan Suit, Vera Suit, Rowan Golden, Morgan Hill, Aliza Goettsch, and Tanner Goettsch. Edith’s presence will be deeply missed in all of our lives, but her spirit is felt in our continued bonds of family and friendship. We honor her by loving one another.
