Frances Allen

Fran was born in Bristow, OK on the 3rd of Nov. 1932, the fifth child of John and Irene Sullivan, her brothers, John Jr., Patrick, William and sister, Mary Margaret preceded her in death. Her sister Betty Devine (Thomas) of Kansas City, MO and her brother, Joseph (Carol) Sullivan survive her. Fran graduated from St. Mary's University in Leavenworth, KS in 1953 with degrees in math and physics. Over the years, she worked for Midwest Research Institute In Kansas City and Cornell Aero Research Labs in Buffalo, NY and taught at the University of Rochester NY. In 1958 on a beautiful sunny day she married Donald Allen in Bristow, OK and for the next 59 years they lived and with love raised four children. Following her brief career as one of the first women in the field of computer research she chose a lifetime as a loving wife and mother. Her gift to all who knew her was her smile and pride in his family. She is survived by her husband, Donald "Don" Francis Allen; children, Donald Jr. and his wife Dariana of Dubai UAE, Julianne Flowers of Seattle, WA; Mary Hartman and her husband, Richard of Madison, GA and William Allen and his wife Kay of Seattle, WA. Grandchildren, Walter and David Flowers of Chicago, IL, Caitlin Flowers of Atlanta, GA, and Gracie Flowers of Orange, CA, Maxwell Allen of Columbus, GA, Julia Allen of Athens, GA, Samuel and Beatrice Allen of Seattle, WA. Aside from being a wife and mother, Fran always had a love of adventure. She loved to travel and enjoyed climbing a glacier, hiking a trail or river rafting or just relaxing with friends and neighbors. Davis Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Williams Funeral Home from 7:00 PM until 7:30 PM with a rosary to be said at 7:30 PM.
