Helen Stevens

Helen Paul Stevens, 79, of Lake Sinclair GA., passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 19th at her home. Helen was born on December 26, 1943, to Archie and Irene Paul in Savannah, GA. She grew up on Isle of Hope in Savannah, the youngest of five siblings. Upon completing her high school education at Jenkins Highschool, she relocated to North Adams, Massachusetts to reside with her sister. She was quickly employed by the North Adams hospital as a diet aide. It was here in 1962 where s¬he met Francis Melvin Stevens when he refused to be discharged from the hospital and insisted on speaking with her one more time. They eventually tied the knot in Blackinton, MA in 1963. Later, she moved back to Savannah, GA., where she worked as a data entry clerk at Great Dane trailers for 34 years; retiring in 2001 and moving to Lake Sinclair. When she wasn’t ruining her family and friend’s diets with her amazing home-cooked southern meals, you could find her on the back of a Harley Davidson trike with her beloved husband Frank, in her greenhouse growing the most amazing plants, trees and flowers, participating in Civil War re-enactments as the Southern Belle she was, or camping and hiking in the North Georgia Mountains with her husband Frank and daughter Barbara. You could also find her on Lake Sinclair boating, kayaking, and fishing, or in her home crafting and sewing. Helen is survived by her husband Francis Melvin Stevens, her children Barbara Stevens Keel and her husband Ronnie, Christopher Paul Stevens and his partner Emily Foster, Jason Stevens and his wife Tiffany, and Jenna Stevens. She is forever cherished by her 6 grandchildren: Cody, Taylor, Deron, Hunter, Kayleigh, and Cameron and two great grandchildren, Jayden, and Mila. Her memory will live on with her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her father Archie, mother Irene, sisters Marilyn and Gloria, brothers Archie Jr. and Ronald, daughter Kathleen, and granddaughter Brandi Keel. Funeral Services will be held at Bonaventure cemetery on Saturday, February 4th, 11 AM. 330 Bonaventure Rd, Thunderbolt, GA. 31404
