Linda Tanner

Linda Sue Bloodworth Tanner, 84, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025. Services will be conducted Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Milledgeville, GA with Rev. Maxie Threatt officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service hour. Linda was born on January 31, 1941 to the late James Edgar (Ed) Bloodworth and Nannie Sue Johnson Bloodworth. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Milledgeville. As one of ten siblings, she enjoyed a very large, musical family. She was an accomplished pianist and mandolin player as well as a singer in the family band with her brothers named The Scoggins Hill Bluegrass Band. She and her brothers played all over Georgia and Tennessee at various music festivals and even recorded an album at the request of their father. Many enjoyed their live music and enjoy their album to this day. The album is a cherished memory for the entire family. She was an avid Georgia Bulldogs Football fan and followed the Atlanta Braves faithfully. Her greatest joy was a "Bloodworth Get Together" with her family where she spent countless hours laughing and sharing family stories. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, James Edgar and Nannie Sue Johnson Bloodworth and step-mother Essie Lane Bloodworth; 4 sisters, Catherine Grimes (Marvin), Marjorie (Margie) Jones (John), Louise Gremli (Charlie) and Mary Lane Hitchcock (John L. Hitchcock, Jr.); 5 brothers, Pierce Bloodworth (Madeline), Sidney Bloodworth (Jeanette 1st wife, Brenda 2nd wife), Otis Bloodworth ( Ann), Raymond Bloodworth and Gaither Lane (Kay). Linda is survived by her son Wes Tanner of Milledgeville; daughters, Audrey Tanner Smith (J.O.) of Milledgeville, Desiree Tanner Davis of Unionville, TN; Granddaughters Savannah Sue Davis and Tanner Kate Davis of Unionville, TN and her very special sister-cousin Mary Bloodworth Gheesling (Comer), Sister-in-Law Ann Bloodworth as well as 33 nieces and nephews and a large number of great nieces and nephews. Interment will be private at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
