Sgt. Paul M. Reese

A Celebration of Life for Milledgeville Police Sgt. Paul M. Reese age 56 will be conducted Sunday at 3 pm in the Chapel of All Faiths. The family will be at the funeral home Saturday afternoon from 4-6PM to receive friends. Paul Marshall “Saddog” Reese passed away late Monday Night May 17, 2010 after a 3 ½ year battle with colon Cancer surrounded by his wife, son and loved ones. Paul was born September 19, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio to the parentage of the late Paul M. Nelson, Sr. And Joyce Jones (Reese). He attended the public school system of Cuyahoga County until his graduation from John F. Kennedy High School in June of 1971. After which he moved to Georgia in 1974. He made his home first in Sparta, GA then in Milledgeville until his death. On April 27, 1986 he married Gladys Watson, to whom he brought much love and joy. He was not only her husband and companion but truly her best friend. Paul loved the saying “grow old with me, the best is yet to be.” He brought to his marriage all the best and more! Paul was a loving devoted husband and father. He was very friendly and outgoing, Paul never met a stranger. All who met and spoke to him left calling him Friend. When asked what he most wanted to be remembered by, he stated, “Just say: I always tried to treat people the way I wanted to be treated!” With a heart as big as Paul possessed, surely he had no problem accomplishing this! Paul started out working as a patrolman for the Forsyth, GA Police Department. Later he worked 11 years as a Correctional Officer with the Prison System, finishing up as a CO II. Later he landed his dream job at the Milledgeville Police Department, where he worked for 24 years until his death. He truly believed in it’s motto “To Serve and Protect.” Paul leaves to morn his passing wife Gladys Watson Reese of Milledgeville; son Charles L. Rawls of Conyers; parents Joyce Reese and the late Fred Reese of Cleveland, OH; father the late Paul M. Nelson, Sr. Of West Virginia; sisters Paulette Crosby of Cleveland, OH, Phylis Rhault of Largo, Fl, and Terri Nelson-Green of Euclid, OH; brother Peter Reese of Cleveland, OH; nieces Jennifer and Leilani Manuel, Sabrina Abrams-Harper and Angela M. Reeves; nephews Jason Manuel, Singleton Watson III, Boddy Watson, and Lawrence Watson, Jr.; brother-in-laws Singleton Watson, Jr., Jimmy Watson, and Tommie Watson of Milledgeville; sister-in-law Shirley Watson of Milledgeville; special devoted friends Gloria Solomon, Reenae Gray, Lizzie Dixon, Mary Mundie and Verdene Ross; and God-daughter Latonya Boddie (husband Michael).
