(Tom) William Thomas Jennings

William Thomas Jennings Sr. (Tom Jennings) was born on December 07, 1954 in Mobile, Alabama to Joe and Jean Jennings. He devoted his life to his family, his church and loved all those he came in contact with. He skipped his senior year in high school and chose to go to Brigham Young University. After one semester, he returned home to marry his high school sweetheart Betsy. Tom was born with an adventurous spirit. During the years, he was a nuclear reactor operator in the Navy, a fundraiser, an elementary school teacher and after reading a book and wanting to build a home for himself ,he became a Timber Framer, building homes in the old world tradition. This became a passion of his that he turned into a career for numerous years. He was also business manager for his wife’s business The School of Dance for 21 yrs. Even though Tom was busy with his family and careers he never forgot who he was and why he was here on earth. He served the Lord in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints through the callings that were extended to him. He served numerous times as Young Men’s President, and councilor in the same organization. He served as Elders Quorum president, High Priest Group Leader, Counselor to the Bishop, and Bishop of the Milledgeville Ward for 6 years. His service extended to the regional Level as a Macon Stake High Council Member. His final service was as a Counselor in the Macon Stake Presidency to President Terrance Warnock and Counselor Mark Wallentine. Tom leaves a legacy of 4 sons. Will Jennings, Mark Jennings(Kelly Jennings), Matt Jennings, and Clay Jennings. His wife, of 36 years, was Betsy Spinks Jennings. He leaves three grandchildren - Lee Jennings (12), Jackson Jennings (3) and Katelyn Jennings (2), two brothers, Robert Paul Jennings of Las Angeles, CA., Jody Jennings ( Melinda Jennings) of Fayetteville GA, Edwinia Gill(Tommy) of Theodore, Al, and Margaret Newburn (Melvin) of Eight Mile, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Jean Johnson Jennings. Visitation is at 6:00pm at Williams Funeral Home on Sunday Evening A memorial service will be held at the Milledgeville Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 6:30 pm on Monday Evening. Interment will be at the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in his hometown of Thomasville, Alabama.
