Willie Lee Johnson

Willie Lee “Buddy” Johnson, age 75, of Milledgeville, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at his residence. He was born August 7, 1943 in White Plains to the late A.L. Johnson and the late Rosa Jackson Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Brother, Lawrence Johnson, and by his prize coon dog, “Big John”. He was raised in Hancock County, and lived in Glascock County, where he served on the Glascock County Board of Education, and as a Mitchell City Councilman. Although he spent over 20 years as a successful farmer, being named both a “Georgia and U.S. Pork Producer of the Year”, Mr. Johnson remained a Carpenter at heart. He was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church in Hancock County. Mr. Johnson is survived by: His Wife, Peggy Anne Lyons Johnson of Milledgeville ; 3 Sons, Greg (Sarah) Johnson of Mitchell, Kevin Johnson of Augusta, and Andy (Amanda) Johnson of Grovetown ; Five Sisters, Alma Shelton of Thomson, Mary Odell of Arizona, Nita Callaway of Milledgeville, Margie Johnson of Milledgeville, and Frankie Scott of Milledgeville ; Eight Grandchildren, Andrew, Abbie, Ryan, Landry, Zachary, McKenna, Bennett, Jenna Kate, Ethan, and Janna ; Special Adopted Daughters, Kim, Cindy, Pam, & Jill ; several Nieces and Nephews. A Celebration of the Life of Mr. Willie Lee “Buddy” Johnson will be held Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell McGinnis, Rev. Mary Griswell and Rev. Jacky Downs officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 2:00pm until the service hour. Pallbearers will be Mark Lyons, Mike Lyons, Michael Goldman, Curt Douglas, Jerry Callaway, Curtis Johnson, Jacky Haywood, Hoyt Cole, Henry Beckworth, Donnie Morgan, Gary Dixon, and Dewayne Lyons. Honorary Pallbearers will be the “Sparta Board of Directors”. The family has requested that those who wish, make Memorial Contributions to the Mt.
