Zack Stringer

On May 14, 1985 a boy named Zackary Winfield Stringer was born. On March 8, 2020 he lost his life. And oh what a life, what a man our Zack was. He is survived by his adoring parents: Cheri & Andrew, his big sisters: Ashlea & Claire, brothers: Ryan, Brent & Julian, his lifelong best friend Tim & the babies he loved so very passionately: Autumn, Saphire & Jaeden. With piercing blue eyes & a heart that was even bigger than his huge presence, Zack’s impact went far & wide. Following in the steps of his great grandfather, our Zack bravely chose to serve his country & in that finding a band of Marine brothers so loyal & true. Serving two tours in Iraq, he gave years of his life sacrificing & surviving so that the people & places he loved so much would continue to be healthy, happy & safe. Zack lived life with a simple purpose, to love & be loved. His burly contagious laugh could heal any sadness. His hugs, like him, were larger than life. Zack leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to be inspired in his name & a tribe of people that are forever changed because of him. On Sunday, March 8, 2020, our dear Zack Stringer joined his Meme and brothers-in-arms in Heaven, far before his time. He was a proud father, Marine, son, brother, cousin, uncle, grandson and friend, and although we only had him here with us for 34 short years, his impact was wide. Known for his huge presence, his even larger heart...our Zack lived life on his own terms. He was a force to be reckoned with...a hurricane of love and strength, struggle and redemption....our hearts will never be complete again. Our lives will never be as colorful. Words cannot describe the pain and loss our family is going through at this time. It’s hard to know how to feel, or the words to find when someone you love, so much, goes so unexpectedly. The conversations left unsaid, the words left unspoken. There is no guidebook for how to get through each day, or how to comfort those around you who are feeling the same strike of pain that you are. Zack lived life the only way he knew how, hard and fierce. He fought, he laughed, he cried...he loved. Thank you to his friends, his Marines, his teamsters, and all those who loved him that have reached out over the past two days. The overwhelming amount of support that has descended upon our family during this unimaginably difficult time is extremely humbling. We want you all to know, our pain is your pain, and yours is ours. We don’t know what lies ahead in the coming days, weeks, and months as we adjust to life without our blonde hair, blue-eyed boy. All we know is that he was loved, as fiercely as those with whom he loved...all of us, and all of you. We will remember him and cherish forever the years that God gave us with him. For those who would like to join us in celebration of Zack, services will be held at held at Williams Funeral Home & Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA this upcoming Monday, March 16th. We will hold a viewing service from 12pm-1pm, with the funeral services to begin at 1. He will be laid to rest at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery following the services.
