Addie Dean Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Addie L. Dean left this life on November 28, 2021. She was born January 15, 1926, in Jefferson County, GA. At the age of one month, she moved with her family to her father’s cotton farm in Laurens Co., where she grew up. She was preceded in death by her parents Rachel Victoria Bailey Pittman and George W. Pittman, as well as 4 sisters, Lolla Mae, Elizabeth, Ethel and Rachel, and 3 brothers, Leonard, George, and Lewis. She is survived by her son Phillip L. Dean (Sandra A. Dean), Milledgeville, GA, her sister, Eva J. Williams, Cumming, GA, 5 nieces, Suzanne McCauley, Cumming, GA; Brenda Smith, Milledgeville, GA, Gail Mullis, Donna English and Renee Heath, all of Dublin, GA, nephew, Frank Pittman, Dublin, GA. Addie Dean’s first job was working at the old Fuse Plant in Milledgeville, GA. Then, for 19 years she made men’s and women’s clothing for Oxford Manufacturing Co. During the Korean War she joined Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. There she stripped and replaced damaged sheet metal from airplanes, just like “Rosie the Riveter”. Later she worked in distribution and warehousing. She retired from Robins AFB in 1986. Addie was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed gospel and country music, gardening, reading, working puzzle books and walking with her dog, Trixie. She was a loving and proud mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is gone from this world but is forever in our hearts. Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, December 2, 2021 in Island Creek Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research.
