Albert Noel Darnell, Jr. Albert Noel Darnell, Jr., age 89, of Suwanee, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2019 at the Georgia War Veteran’s Home in Milledgeville, Georgia. A native of Mobile Alabama, Al was born on July 15, 1930 to the late Mary Alice Darnell (Crosby) and the late Albert Noel Darnell, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by sisters Catherine Gibbons, Bonnie Dubose and brothers Bill Darnell and Leon Darnell, all of Mobile. Al and his family moved to Perry, GA in 1967 and then to Suwanee, GA in 2002. He worked at Robins Air Force base for 18 years, retiring with the title Weapons Specialist, spending the latter part of his career working with the A-10 Thunderbolt (Warthog) and more specifically on the jet's GAU-8 Avenger gun system. Al was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving in the Korean War, a member of the Perry United Methodist Church and enjoyed golfing, gardening and woodworking. Mr. Darnell is survived by: his wife of 66 years, Roberta ‘Bunny’ Darnell; daughter Sharon Darnell and sons, Bobby (Lane) Darnell and Tony (Amanda) Darnell as well as six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be for immediate family only. The family intends to hold a memorial ‘celebration of life’ service at a date to be determined.
