Becky Leverett

It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Becky Leverett, age 79 of Milledgeville, Georgia, November 29, 2024. She was surrounded by her family and their love that she devoted her life to nurturing. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Williams Funeral Home 1670 N. Jefferson St. NE, Milledgeville, GA 31061. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the service will start at 2:00 p.m. Becky was the devoted rock for the family. She raised her kids and helped with the grandkids her entire life. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, cousin and friend whose care, wisdom, and selflessness shaped the lives of all who were in her inner circle. Her life was a testament to the power of love, sacrifice, and devotion. We are immeasurably grateful for the years we had with her, and though we will miss her deeply, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit lives on in all of us. She had a quick wit and made others laugh with her sense of humor. Traveling with her added to every adventure. She was a graduate of Baldwin High School and worked at Central State Hospital briefly before making the decision to manage the home and raise the kids. She also helped her husband manage rental properties for more than 50 years, helped him with Leverett’s Store for nearly 10 years, Co-managed the Christmas Tree Farm for 10 years and was master fence builder at Oconee Sands Farm for 32 years. She had a talent for making beautiful things too. She loved her flowers and potted plants and in her spare time, she dabbled with paints and drawing. Becky was a native of Columbus, Georgia and made her home in Milledgeville for most of her adult life. She was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Lorraine West. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jere Leverett; daughter, Cynthia Gay Smith (Joey) of Young Harris, GA; son, Jay Leverette (Courtney) of Milledgeville, GA; granddaughter, Sarah McTyre Vanhoose (Macaulay) of Acworth, GA; granddaughter, Hannah McTyre of Young Harris, GA; grandson, Weston Leverette of Atlanta, GA; brother, Jack West (Donna) of Milledgeville, GA; Step-Grandchildren Josh Smith (Hollie) of Madison, GA; Kayla Phillips of Milledgeville, GA and Step Great-Grandchildren Briggs and Allie Smith of Madison, GA. Several dear Sisters-in-Love (Bessie, Jake, Punch and Ann), cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive.
