John W. "Jack" Bentley

June 16, 1935 - March 23, 2021

John W. “Jack” Bentley died on March 23, 2021, at the age 85 years old, in Sparta, Ga. Graveside Services for Jack Bentley will be conducted Friday, March 26, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Sparta City Cemetery. Reverend Jerry Bradley and Reverend Brian Hill will be delivering the Service. He was born in Taliaferro County, and was the son of the late John Carey Bentley and the late Lillian Beatrice Bentley. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Jordan. John was a U.S. Army veteran, and a Sargent with the Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources, Game and Wildlife, Law Enforcement Division. He was a member of the Peace Officer Association, and a Master Mason. He was a Deacon of the Sparta Baptist Church. Jack is survived by his wife, Thelma Hazel ; his brother, James Milo ; his sons, John Michael, and Matthew Henry (& wife, Lacy) ; his daughter, Mitiz Lynn (& husband, Ernest William Batchelor, Jr.) ; his grandchildren, Lisa Renee’ Batchelor, Stacy Lynn Hammond (& husband, Matthew), Will Batchelor, Kristen B.
