Joseph Goodson, Jr. (Joe, Scoopie) 84 died peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Tranquility WellStar Hospice Center. Born in Jersey City, N.J. he lived in Randolph, N.J. and Milledgeville, GA. If you knew Joe, then you know he was an AVID bowler. He spent all of his free time bowling at Lake Country Lanes in Milledgeville. Dad loved to share his expertise with everyone and led several teams to championships. He proudly bowled multiple perfect 300 games with his most recent shortly after Lake Country Lanes opened. Our father served in the US Navy from 1955-1958. He was a Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Lakers and Dodgers fan through and through. Dad was very happy to witness Barack Obama’s presidency and loved to talk politics and sports with his daughters, sons, son’s in-law and many friends. Dad was very proud of his immediate and extended families. He is survived by; sisters, Sadie Lewis, Mae Dover, Carol Hunter, his children, Theresa Goodson, Joseph A. Goodson, June Giustra, Michelle Dunn, Michael Goodson, daughter in-law, Amy Goodson, sons in-law, Kenneth Dunn, John Giustra, grandchildren, Lauryn Goodson, Zachary Dunn, Joshua Dunn, Daylan and Kyanna Edmonds, Nathan and Shea Nelms, great grandchildren, Layla Edmonds, Hunter Nelms. Mary Goodson, sons Michael Simmons, David and Tyrone Waal as well as several nieces and nephews. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the family will hold a private Memorial Service (Live Streamed) on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Williams Funeral Home & Crematory, Milledgeville, GA. The services will be live streamed. Memorial donations may be made in Joe’s name to the Veterans-Wounded Warrior Project https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/Veteran-Charity/Donate The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Staff of the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center Dublin, GA and Tranquility WellStar Hospice Center, Austell, GA. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last month was a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
