Carol Jones Huffman

Patricia Carol (Jones) Huffman, 85, of Milledgeville, Georgia passed away peacefully July 12th, 2026. She was born August 30, 1940, in Carrollton, Georgia to Otto Velvin and Nellie Lee (Goodrowe) Jones. Carol was a proud graduate of Villa Rica High School, Class of 1958, where she was active in clubs, theater, drill team, and lettered in basketball. A gifted musician, she played piano for Consolation Baptist Church and Mars Hill Baptist Church. She went on to pursue a lifelong calling in healthcare and education, living a life devoted to her faith, family, and service to others. She furthered her education at Georgia Baptist Nursing School in Atlanta and West Georgia College in Carrollton. In 1964, Carol married Charles “Chuck” Huffman, and together they shared 28 years of marriage grounded in love, faith, and family. Carol’s professional career spanned several decades. She served as an emergency room nurse at Spalding County Hospital in Griffin, Georgia, worked as an office nurse in Leesburg, Florida, and later became a certified instructor with Orange County Schools in Orlando, teaching health, nutrition, and nursing assistant programs. She also instructed nursing assistants at Westside Vocational-Technical School in Winter Garden, Florida, worked as a realtor in Orlando, and later served as Director of Nursing at Tuscawilla Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winter Springs, Florida, where she eventually retired. Active in her community, Carol was a member of the Ocoee Women’s Club and was deeply involved in school activities, serving as a room mom, teaching after-school craft clubs, acting as a team mom for youth sports, and generously helping neighborhood children. A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Winter Garden, Florida, Carol faithfully served in many roles, including teaching kindergarten, leading children’s choir, assisting with the youth group, playing piano , handbells, and singing in the adult choir. She was a dedicated Sunday School attendee and cherished her church family. After retirement, Carol returned to her home state Georgia to be closer to family. Although retired, she became an author, writing Widows Club, a book offering encouragement and support drawn from her own experience as a young widow. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Charles “Chuck” Huffman. She is survived by her son, Greg Huffman (Cyndie) of Hanceville, Alabama; daughter, Michelle McClellan (Randy) of Eatonton, Georgia; grandchildren Michael McClellan (Taylor), Mason McClellan (McKenna), all of Eatonton, Georgia, Lexie McClellan of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Gavin Huffman of Jacksonville, Alabama; great-grandchildren Carter McClellan, and Presley McClellan of Eatonton, Georgia; sister Jane Poorman of Milledgeville, Georgia; brother Bob Jones (Joyce) of Carrollton, Georgia; sisters-in-laws Willene Jimmerson and Joyce Bennett of Griffin, Georgia, and Sharon Huffman of Rogers, Arkansas; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Patricia Carol Huffman will be remembered for her deep faith, servant’s heart, and lifelong dedication to caring for and uplifting others.
