Elizabeth Banks Clark Meier

Elizabeth Banks Clark Meier (Beth) was born June 10, 1948 in Macon, GA and passed away August 12, 2022 in Brunswick GA. Beth grew up in Eastman Ga where she graduated from Dodge County High school in 1966. She later moved to Milledgeville, GA where she attended the Women’s College of GA and there she met and married Gary Meier (of Milledgeville). She and Gary later had two children, (Gary Wright) and (Marjorie Louise), to whom she was lovingly devoted. Beth felt privileged to be their mother and raising them was one of the great joys of her life. Beth returned to Georgia College where she obtained her degree in middle grades education. She was passionate about teaching and seeing her students learn and prosper while also instilling a sense of responsibility, compassion, and respect to others. She always wanted her students, as well as her own children, to feel a sense of pride in themselves and their accomplishments no matter how big or small. Beth was also loved and respected by her peers. Beth had a genuine love and zest for life and enjoyed her friends and family to the fullest. She was an avid bridge player, winning many tournaments while developing competitive friendships. She also enjoyed just as much a friendly game of spades with her family. Beth always enjoyed getting lost in a good book whether it was a mystery or cook book searching for a new recipe. She also had a lifelong love of the ocean and spending time on the coast , from swimming and fishing to one of her very favorites; crabbing! In 2019 Beth became a grandmother to a beautiful granddaughter (Clark Louise) who affectionately named her “Beeah”. They were best buddies and two peas in a pod from day one. Beth was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, mother in law, grandmother, and friend. She will be so greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. George W. Clark and beloved Aunt Elizabeth P.Foster Survived by her children Gary Wright Meier Jr. (Teresa) of Thomaston Ga., Marjorie (Jori) Louise Acosta (Jacob) of Brunswick, GA, Granddaughter Clark Louise Acosta, brother George William Clark III (Dianne) of Avondale Estates, GA. , sister Connie Clark Tillman (Lannis) of Jesup GA , niece Leah Tillman Brockington nephews Craig Clark, Andrew Clark , and Daniel Clark . Flowers accepted and for those who wish memorial contributions can be made to Paws and Claws Humane Services of Wilkinson County and Saint Jude Children’s Hospital The family of Beth Meier would like to give a very special thank you to the nurses and staff of Coastal Hospice of Georgia (Saint Simons Island). A Celebration of Life will be held at Williams Funeral Home in Milledgeville on Thursday at 11 AM with a family Graveside to be held Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cochran on Friday. They will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Thursday from 10 AM until the Service hour.
