Faith Davis

Edith Faith Davis, age 68, of Milledgeville, passed away Monday, August 3, 2026. Services for Faith Davis will be conducted, with military honors, will be conducted Friday, August 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. One thing that those who know her adored is that she would always bring a smile and show love. Faith was born on March 26 1958. She came in as a spitfire and that is the way she departed. She was fearless during her last days. Faith began her younger years in Macon Georgia. She attended Mattie Wells Elementary School in Jones County then on to Jonesco Academy, Baldwin County High and eventually Eatonton. School wasn’t her favorite endeavor. Though she was bright as they come, she found it hard to sit still and was always dreaming of what would come next. Her sense of adventure lead her to inquire of a truck driver what it was like to drive a semi truck. After sitting behind the wheel of, there was no stopping her. Her determination to be a long haul truck driver was not deterred by the costs of obtaining the education and permits to become a driver. She endured hours of working small jobs and continuing to look for the money that it takes to make her way. At one point in her search for small jobs she found a competition that she thought she might be able handle. And handle it she did…. Mud wrestling…. She took it on as if it were a full time job. She won more than one match. Upon becoming a long haul driver, she accomplished her desire to travel and experience different states and different people. She’s made friends all along the way. At the urging of her father, she joined the US Navy. She devoted her life to the military from 1985 until 2005. Traveling is one of the things she has always loved to do and she was able to achieve that with the Navy. Her travels took her to so many countries and filled her life with so much happiness and so many friends. Her heart was stolen away when experienced Scotland. Endless stories of happy times, she would have loved to live there forever! After retiring from the Navy, she went back to truck driving and reached her goal of becoming an owner operator. She was always working, she was always making friends. And in this time away from her family, she made certain that she kept in touch and visited when she could. She finally settled in Milledgeville at what would be her forever home. A home in the woods. A home close to family. A home where she could welcome and enjoy her dogs, her cats, a home that allowed her to forage woods for wild mushrooms and a place where she could sit and look at this beautiful world. Her other hobbies were drawing, writing poetry and short stories, editing stories for her sister Teresa, knitting and enjoying family and friends. Our journey from March 7th 2026 to August 3rd 2026 has been led and nurtured by the special people and team at Georgia Hospice Care. Their hours of love and guidance made this transition one that can be looked back upon as a joyful and learning time. They educated us on giving comfort celebrating the good times and dealing with the low ones. Thank you Nurse Sidney, Nurse Melba, Nurse Kim for your prompt, caring attention to Faith and the family. Thank you Kaitlyn, Sharon, Victoria and the many more for physical help. Thank you Matt and Chip. Thank you all for the hugs. And of course, we are grateful to our friends for the many phone calls, visits and experience they gave Faith during this journey. We are grateful for the many hours they’ve dedicated to us; taking care of our homes while we were away, taking care of our hearts as they were breaking and healing with us as we move forward, We are grateful to William’s Funeral Home for taking care of our sweet sister and friend.
