Mr. Jackson “Jack” Lamar Smith, 17, passed away on August 1, 2026. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Milledgeville. Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 AM until the Service Time. Jack was a bright, curious, funny, independent, and determined person. His mind was always working. “Whether he was teaching himself to play guitar, learning about science and animals, perfecting a recipe, earning medals in karate, or diving into whatever caught his interest next, Jack wanted to understand things, figure them out for himself, and do them in his own way.” He loved deeply and the people he treasured stayed with him. As a little boy, he once worried that he might forget the face and voice of his Great Grandpa Clifford. That memory feels especially meaningful now, because the people who love Jack understand that longing in a new way. We will remember his face, his voice, his laugh, his stories, and all the little things that made him Jack. Jack’s life will never be defined by one moment. His story is seventeen years of growing, learning, laughing, loving, dreaming, challenging us, accomplishing things, and being loved beyond measure. Jackson Lamar Smith was here. He mattered. He was deeply loved, and he will never be forgotten. He was preceded in death by his Great Grandpa, Clifford Lamar Moye; and nephew Russell Clayton. He is survived by his parents, David and Angela Chapman; sister, Allison Crowe (Dexter Duncan); brothers, David Harridge (Joni), Tony Chapman (Natalie), Ray Crowe; birth mother, Caitlin Elizabeth Smith; aunts Brittany Daniel (Levi), Kenzie Thoming (Christopher), Caitlin Hudspeth (Cody); great grandmother, Martha Jean Moye; grandmother, Carol Moye; grandparents, William “Bill” Potter and Mary Potter; “Jack shared an especially close bond with his Grandma Mary. She was not only his grandmother, but one of his very best friends, and their relationship was incredibly special. We called her his bestie,”; cousins, Bella Chamberlain, Ace Blount, Dash Winfrey, Sonny Daniel, Hayley Daniel, Hope Daniel, Wolf, and Kimber, Emma and Easton ; Nieces and Nephews, Raylan Knight, River Knight, Georgia Lou Ray, Steven Harridge, Emilee Cossette (Cadence), Corey Chase Lund, and Karson Drake. “Jack is also survived by other brothers and sisters, as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.”
