Margie Fisher

Margie J. Fisher, beloved wife of William W. (Bill) Fisher, quietly left her family and friends to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday June 11, 2009 at Oconee Regional Hospital, Milledgeville, Georgia. Margie was born in Charleston, West Virginia on July 8, 1931 to the late Fred and Gatha Jones. Margie kindled the spirits of all her family and friends by her love, deeds, generosity, and her constant commitment to enrich their lives. Margie and Bill walked hand in hand together for over 58 years of life adventures. They were well known residents of Williamsburg, Virginia in the tourism business, owning several tourists homes, a motel, and a campground. They first opened their home to vacationing tourists in Yorktown, Virginia in 1956. They made friends from around the world that returned year after year to visit Colonial Williamsburg, and if they were lucky they got a taste of Margie's famous apple cake. Margie was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Susie Carter, brothers, Rivan, Clair, Tommy and Paul Jones. Surviving are her husband Bill and her son William W.(Bill) Fisher II and his wife Ilse of Milledgeville, Georgia, her daughter Margaret (Peggi) Meredith and her husband Dana of Coats, North Carolina and most beloved grandchildren Michelle Meredith of Wilmington, North Carolina, Dana Meredith, Jr. and wife Kim of Coats, North Carolina, Aaron Meredith and wife Sharon of Erwin, North Carolina and Emma and Max Fisher of Milledgeville, Georgia; great-grandchildren Mariah, Macey and William Meredith of Coats, North Carolina and Dylan P. Meredith of Erwin, North Carolina. Margie is also survived by one brother, Alex Jones and wife Ruth of Columbus, Georgia. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the nursing staff of Oconee Regional Hospital, especially nurse Diane Godfrey and Dr. George Martinez, for their compassionate care of Margie and her family during her brief illness. A special thank you to neighbors and friends, David Doud, Lutrell, Janice, Mary and Babe. A memorial service and celebration of Margie's life is being planned and will be held at a later date in Williamsburg, Virginia.
