Monica Jean Leggett

On the morning of May 12, 2024, Monica Jean Leggett, age 41, passed away at home with family by her side after an eight year battle with Stage IV Breast Cancer. She was born on August 20, 1982 in Dublin, GA and stood on this earth for 41 years. She earned an Associate Degree in Visual Arts and a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Communications. She used her intense health knowledge to make sure that all of her loved ones were taken care of, sometimes adamantly, but lovingly insisting on certain vitamins and various pills of ground up roots. She was a loving wife and an absolutely incredible mother. She loved all of her family truly to the point that it was impossible to think otherwise. She was a true, devout Christian. She never boasted, was kind, and anyone could see her kindness in her acts. She was very smart, funny, and a wonderful Artist. She could turn any Medium into a masterpiece whether it be painting, clay, or crafts (too many to list). Heaven has gained a true angel and she will be sorely missed by those of us who remain. Monica was preceded in death by her adoptive father, Daniel George Rothwell, by her maternal grandmother, Guynell T. Kennedy, and by her maternal grandfather, Thomas E. Kennedy. Surviving family members include her husband, Samuel “Sam” Leggett ; her daughter, Fiona Lamb Leggett ; her mother, Teresa A. Kennedy ; her biological father, Julian Mark Duggan ; her step-mother, Sonia Duggan ; her sister, Marti S. Rothwell ; her brothers, Mark Madison Duggan and David Tyler Duggan ; her grandparents, Carolyn & Arthur Calhoun ; her mother-in-law, Mary Jane Leggett ; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services for Monica Leggett will be conducted Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 1:00 pm in High Point Church in Macon, GA, with Pastor Trey Dickerson and Minton Williams officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30pm in Heritage Memorial Park in Milledgeville. The family will receive friends at High Point Church on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 12:00 pm until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, it was Monica’s wish that Donations be made to High Point Church, 2963 Hollis Road, Macon, GA 31206, in her memory.
