Virgil Allen

Virgil “Bucky” Ray Allen, age 84, of Forsyth, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 13, 1941, in Athens, Tennessee, Bucky grew up in Maryville, Tennessee and attended Alcoa High School, where he proudly played basketball and developed a lifelong love for teamwork and sports. He graduated with the Class of 1959. In 1961, he married the love of his life, Fraye Maxine Allen, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned 64 years. Together, they built a life grounded in hard work, faith, and family. After working at Merita Bakery, Bucky went on to a faithful 36-year career with Ford Motor Company, from which he later retired. During those years, he and Maxine moved from Morrow, Georgia to Forsyth, Georgia, where they raised their three children and built a lifelong home. Bucky found joy in life’s simple pleasures—watching Tennessee football (Go Vols!), making people laugh with his quick wit and sense of humor, serving others, mowing the yard, gardening, cooking, and spending time working in his shop at home. He was deeply devoted to his church, cherished his friendships, and loved his family fiercely. A man of steady hands and a servant’s heart, Bucky was a Mason and volunteer fireman who was always ready to help others. He is survived by his beloved wife, Fraye Maxine Allen; his children, Spencer Ray Allen, James Russell Allen, and David Barry Allen (Tara); his grandchildren, Joseph Allen, Kristen Hull (Phillip), Montana Sticher, Tyler Allen, Rachel Brennan (Daniel), Sydney Allen, Noah Allen, and Payton Allen; four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Libby Householder. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Pauline Allen; his brother, JL Allen; and his sisters, Phyllis Story and Linda Miller. A memorial service will be held on February 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Paran Baptist Church, 5691 GA-42 (Blount Community), Forsyth, Georgia. Bucky will be remembered for his faith, his humor, his servant’s heart, and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
